In this London square, the Anouska Hempel team gave a once chaotic London space a sense of structure and discipline - and deep serenity. The Japanese-influenced, minimalist characteristics of the Hempel itself were reflected in finely structured broad bands; the use of green and white; immaculately racked gravels; and three sensational dark green square ponds edged in white Portland stone. A work that is simple, strong - yet with a gentleness which is in sympathy with the hotel's original facade.
