Mediterranean Orientalism reaches its rich, exotic height in Anouska Hempel's design for an apartment, with architectural garden, on the Bosphorus, and for a superlative home in Palma with rooftop pool, landscaped by cliffs. The interiors show the Ottoman influence, mixed with colours strong and at home in the Mediterranean light: a revelry of sudare blinds, rich spice colours, floors of rich hues, using white on white, blue on blue and spice on spice, to achieve something graded, refined and eclectic.
